Time-consuming repositioning of the excavator or changing of attachment tools are unproductive and hence a thorn in everyone's side. Work should be done swiftly and precisely, ideally without having to move too much. This is how we see it as well.
That’s why our engineers were looking for a solution and developed our RotoTop® with its 360° limitless rotation. It impresses with its compact design with no protruding parts. The design is extremely low and therefore features maximal breakaway and tearing forces. Rigidly mounted to the boom, our RotoTop® provides any attachment tool with rotation and enables, by means of the usual excavator kinematics, flexible and above all quick work in the full operating range of the excavator. This means that the excavator can manage more tasks: Without moving. Without repositioning.
Its compact, low design makes the Rototop® a true power pack.
With our RotoTop® you can achieve maximal digging forces as its mounting height is exceptionally low and the tool has a very low dead weight. When using a backhoe, you can achieve a particularly high performance increase. In concrete figures this means: In earthworks, you can achieve a performance increase of 10–25%, in sewer construction up to 30%. Even in gardening and landscaping, increases of up to 50% are realistic when using the RotoTop®.
This can be explained by the fact that you get more mobility due to rotation. Our RotoTop® makes handling of your attachment tools more sensitive and smoother, which makes working with the excavator more precise. This pays off as time-consuming manual work is saved. If you count the time saved on manual tasks, our customers talk about an increase of up to 300%.

The construction of the housing is compact, the design is so robust that our RotoTop® can last more than just one excavator life. The hydraulic motor and all pipes are well-protected by the housing. A long product life is also ensured by the tool system’s sealings and the greased worm gear. Truly unique is the RotoTop’s power transmission through the gearing and not via the housing. Power thus goes directly to the bearing via the mounting plate and is absorbed by the bolts. This design enables cost-effective overhauling of the RotoTop® for a second excavator life cycle.
We have designed our RotoTop® in such a way that it is more than capable of withstanding really extreme long-term applications such as the rock cutter, hammer or vibratory plate. This is the reason why a 3-year or 3,000 OpHrs warranty is not a risk for us.
SPATIAL MOVEMENT IS ACHIEVED BY MEANS OF ROTATION IN COMBINATION WITH THE EXCAVATOR’S KINEMATICS.
RotoTop® provides 360° limitless rotation allowing each attachment tool to rotate. Combined with standard excavator kinematics, the operator has the possibility to handle spatial movements as sensitively and smoothly as with a tilt rotator. A further advantage: The operator only has to perform movement along one axis and thus works intuitively and saves time and money after only a short adjustment period.
While a tilt rotator, which we build as our RotoX® in combination with Powertilt, requires months of proper training for the operator. This is why we at Holp see the tilt rotator as a special attachment tool. In order to keep maximal power on the construction site, the RotoTop® is rigidly mounted. In case this should not be sufficient for the operator, it is possible to quickly retrofit the RotoTop® with a swivel bucket or, in sewer construction, with a mobile boom extension in the form of a tilt in sandwich design below the RotoTop®.
THE LARGEST ROTARY JOINTS IN THE MARKET PREVENT OVERHEATING EVEN WITH THE MOST INTENSE USAGE.
Our RotoTop® ‘s 5, 6 or 8-way rotary joint with line cross-sections of up to 1 ¼ inches allow for a maximum power output at 400 bar for each excavator class. The entire system pressure generated by the excavator therefore reaches the attachment tool without noticeable loss. Since there is always a sufficient amount of pipes available every type of quick-coupler can be effortlessly fully equipped.
Starting already with the 3.5 tonnes class, an 8-way rotary joint can be fitted. This means that, just like with the “large” excavators, a fully hydraulic quick-coupler with all 5 couplings may be attached. Standard attachment tools, which are usually stored at any construction site, may thus be used without any problems. In addition, with long-term usage of tools requiring large quantities of oil, such as a mulcher or a rotary cutter, you never face the risk of overheating!
